CONDITIONAL SENTENCE

merupakan kalimat kompleks yang terdiri dari subordinate clause berupa pernyataan Unreal (tidak ada kemungkinan terwujud) atau hypothetical (ada kemungkinan terwujud) dan main clause berupa result.

TYPE 1

merupakan kalimat pengandaiaan yang memiliki kemungkinan untuk terwujud karena conditionnya realistik untuk dipenuhi dimasa depan.

RUMUS / POLA

dengan koma (,) : If + Simple Present, will + Bare Infinitive

dengan tanpa koma : S + Will + Bare Infinitive + If + Simple Present

Negatif If + Condition

Rumus = If…..not dapat digantikan dengan Unless

Ex: dengan koma (,)

(+) If you go home on time, you will be faster doing homework

(-) If you don’t go home on time, you won’t be faster doing homework

(?) If you go home on time, will be you faster doing homework ?

Ex: dengan tanpa koma

(+) I will be happy if you hug me

(-) I won’t be happy if you don’t hug me

(?) will be you happy if he hugs you ?

TYPE 2

Merupakan kalimat pengandaiaan yang tidak memiliki atau hanya sedikit kemungkinan untuk terwujud, karena conditionnya tidak mungkin dipenuhi dimasa sekarang atau conditionnya sulit untuk dipenuhi dimasa depan.

RUMUS / POLA

dengan koma (,) : If + Simple Past, would / could / might + Bare Infinitive

dengan tanpa koma :S + would / could / might + Bare Infinitive + If + Simple Past

Dalam Conditional Sentence TYPE 2 “WERE” menggantikan “WAS” meskipun subjek yang digunakan merupakan Pronoun (she, he, it) maupun kata benda tunggal.

RUMUS : If + S + were, would / could / might + Bare Infinitive

Ex: dengan koma (,)

(+) If my father were came here tomorrow, I would hug him

(-) If my father weren’t come here tomorrow, I wouldn’t hug him

(?) If you father weren’t come here tomorrow, would you hug him?

Ex: dengan tanpa koma

(+) Her would hug her father if her father were came home tomorrow

(-) Her wouldn’t hug her father if her father weren’t come here tomorrow

(?) Would her hug her father if her father weren’t come here tomorrow??

Fact : her father weren’t came home tomorrow

TYPE 3

Merupakan kalimat pengandaiaan yang tidak ada kemungkinan untuk terwujud karena conditionnya harus sudah dipenuhi dimasa lalu.

RUMUS / POLA

Dengan koma (,) : If + Past Perfect, would / could / might + Bare Infinitive

Dengan tanpa koma : S + would / could / might + Bare Infinitive + If + Past Perfect

Ex: dengan koma (,)

(+) If I had known you were at home, I would have visited you

(-) If I had been know you were at home, I wouldn’t have visit you

(?) If you had known him at home, would you have visited him?

Ex: dengan tanpa koma

(+) I would have gone If you had broken my heart

(-) I wouldn’t have gone if you had been broke my heart

(?) would you have gone if his had broken your heart?

Fact : his wouldn’t have broken your heart
